Parker and I decided to hitchhike from Vancouver to Long Beach on Vancouver Island one summer. It was the mecca for west coast hippies and wannabes at that time. I think I was 17 and Parker was 13. The road down to the coast was gravel and we got a ride in the back of a truck with a bunch of other kids. We finally made it, hung out for a few days then headed home. We got dropped off in the middle of no where late in the day and it started to rain. We stood there for hours and finally a guy came along in a little 2 seater sportscar with no top. He got us to the ferry terminal, it rained the whole way. Quite an adventure for 2 Revelstoke boys. RIP old friend.
